How to Measure

We want to ensure that you have the perfect fit of the gown of your dreams!

Measure Your Bust

Measure under your arms, and wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust and over the back shoulder blades. Take a deep breath in and let out while holding the tape measure in place to make sure you get an accurate measurement. Take a few measurements and make sure the tape is horizontal all around.

Measure Your Hips

Stand with your feet together. Measure at the fullest part around your bottom and thighs, usually at the top of the leg. This is generally around 7-9” below your natural waistline. Measure in a few spots and use the largest measurement.

Measure Your Natural Waist

Wrap the measuring tape around your natural waist, which is approximately 2 inches above your belly button. Breath in and breath out before you take the final measurement to make sure you are getting an accurate and comfortable reading.

measure skirt length

Measure from the natural waist to the floor wearing the approximate height shoes you will wear with your dress to make sure the skirt is long enough. Pay attention to the way the dress is advertised: such as from the natural waist or from the lowered waist seam line, empire line or dropped waist line.

Tips:

  • Use a cloth measuring tape.

  • Do not pull the measuring tape too tight.

  • Make sure the measuring tape is horizontal all around and not twisted.

  • When choosing a size make sure you choose based on the largest measurement/size. It is always easier to take in than let out (which may not be possible).

  • Choose a size based on your measurements now, not on what you “hope” to be. Again, it is easier to take in than let out (which may not be possible).

  • Bridal sizing isn't like your standard street wear sizing. While you might be a size 4-6 in regular clothing, you're in fact a bridal size 8-10, and if you're a size 14-16, you're likely a size 18-20. Don't waste a moment getting upset about it–it is just a number! Match your measurements to measurements listed or your chosen dress designer sizing chart to have the most enjoyable bridal experience.
